Welcome to the Tangible Talks Podcast! In today’s episode, we continue our series on "Rest" with a deep dive into the New Testament. Our title for this episode is "The Rest of the Story", and we're exploring how Jesus viewed the Sabbath and the concept of rest.

Throughout the Old Testament, we see the Israelites trying (but often failing) to "honor" the Sabbath. While the Sabbath was meant to be a sacred day of rest, by the time Jesus arrives, the religious leaders had turned it into a list of restrictive rules. This led to some major clashes between Jesus and the Pharisees, who accused Him of breaking Sabbath laws.

But Jesus brought a fresh perspective on the true meaning of Sabbath rest. He didn’t see rest as just avoiding work but as a time to focus on what really matters—like healing, community, and worship.

In this episode, we’ll look at several times Jesus healed on the Sabbath—encounters that outraged the religious leaders but revealed deeper truths about rest. We'll discuss why Jesus’ actions weren’t violations but were, in fact, demonstrations of the rest God intended for us.

We’ll also dig into key scriptures like Matthew 11:28-30, where Jesus invites us to find true rest in Him, and reflect on how this rest is a gift—a break from our busy lives, and a chance to refocus on God, not work or worldly pursuits.

Tune in as we unpack the Rest of the Story and discover how the Sabbath is more than just a day off—it’s an invitation to embrace God’s peace and purpose!
